“Tomchess is an international multi-instrumentalist/Composer/improviser currently focused on oud, ney and morsing. He has played with Ronald Shannon Jackson, recorded with Dewey Redman, Pharaoh Sanders, and played and recorded with Butch Morris. Based in New York City for 30 years, he now lives in Pittsburgh. He is known for synthesizing North African and Eastern influences with American jazz sensibilities into his own unique sound. He has been called a virtuoso on the oud.”
